One of my all-time favorite things is teaching people how to do hand embroidery. I taught at the Stitch Lab Sewing Studio in Austin, Texas for three years, I taught workshops at Maker Faire for three years, and have most recently taught at QuiltCon. It has been a great honor to watch hundreds of students not only tackle tricky stitches that had troubled them before, but to embrace hand embroidery and go on to make all kinds of fantastic work. My classes are rooted in delivering practical tips and broad inspiration to conquer fear and put off perfectionism. Students leave with a firm grasp of the skills and with a bevy of resources to continue inspiring them to create.
Here are a few of the things students have had to say about my classes:
"Rachel is very approachable and down to earth. She loves her craft and it shows."
"She also sent some links to my email with lots of helpful information. She is great."
"I appreciate the prep work Rachel did for the class. She seemed aware of the time and class size limitations and really thought out her delivery of embroidery techniques."
